The drive actually isn't too bad, and I think in the meantime I will just work on the co-reqs, like A&P, etc. I made it home during rush hour traffic in only 40 mins yesterday! Not bad for being stop and go on 1-94 at the airport for 5-10 mins!

WOWOWOWOWOWOW - fall of 2010 - that's hard to even read. 20% increase - wow.

Yes, it's only a 40 minute drive from Dearborn to Ann Arbor - I made that drive for years, and really, only had a bad winter's drive less than 5 times in a 12 year period.

2010 - wow.

I know, isn't that astounding?? I couldn't believe my ears; that sounds soooo far in the future! That's why I was considering getting my CNA in the meantime. That way I'd have something to do, I'd possibly find a job in a hospital and I'd gain experience while waiting it out on the list.

What do you think??

I work in ann arbor at uofm and live in novi and go to HFCC, just a thought about your drive; have you ever taken 96 to 14 it might be a little smoother and there is not alot of construction on them! Hope this helps. traffic makes me crazy I try to stay out of the way and just get to where im going.

I think that is a GREAT idea. Can you get in at St. Joe's, or at the U? My friend LOVED PCA'ing at SJMH while in NS. Working as an aid will give you TONS of experience and confidence as you move into your clinicals once you are in NS. The money is good, too, which you will NEED to pay for ALL THAT GAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cry :

HFCC offers a 16-cr CNA course during the Fall and Winter semesters. Pretty much all of the hospital job sites in the area are hiring CNA's. Question: U of M keeps referring to them as Medical Assistants. Are they the same as CNAs?

~ they are not the same; I know for sure MA's work over in mott they are basically aides who can draw blood; techs work throughout the hospital depending which unit has them, they are aides that do what nurses do besides passing any meds; aides are union and dont draw blood or do catheters or dressings, basically they help with basic nessities like cleaning, getting out of bed, walking, and checking blood pressurs oh also empting drains. Just a tip; it is harder to get an aide position because it has to be offered to all "inhouse" employees of the uofm before offered to the public, you hear MAs because there not union and can hire someone from the outside. Good luck!

Wayne County communtiy college has no waiting list, it takes 120 students twice a year. It goes off of the highest GPA, I heard just this last fall the lowest GPA to get in was a 3.4. They advise u to keep your GPA at a 3.5 to be one of the more competitive students. The NET is used as a tie breaker, but you only need a 51 to pass it and a 60 on the writing.. Hope this helps
