What are my chances? WCCCD

Ok, so I sent my transcripts in to be evaluated. They put them on Webgate, but there's no GPA listed for them. So far, I have:

A & P 1: A
A & P 2: B
English 1: A
Psych: C
Microbiology (currently taking at wcccd, should get a B)

I signed up to retake psych because of the C, (I missed a B by like 8 points, ughhh...)the Summer 2 term ends July 30. I know you have to apply by August for Jan 09, right? How would that work with the class ending July 30th??? Does anyone know from past experience what my chances might be, with or without retaking Psych? How do I calculate my GPA? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just freaking out a little bit. My backup plan is to go for LPN first, but I really want to get into an RN program already! Thanks in advance!

Well I can't tell you about anything related to chances etc since I do not go to WCCC but I CAN tell you how to calculate your GPA.

Simply multiply the grade on a 4 pt scale by the number of credits for each course. Add these all together and divide by the total number of credits. For you this would be

A&P1 4x4 credits= 16
A&P2 3x4 credits= 12
English 4x3 credits=12
Psych 2x3 credits =6
Micro (assuming a B) 3x4 credits=12

so 16+12+12+6+12=58

58/18 credits= 3.2 GPA a 3.3 is a B+ average so you're just a little below that.
Hope that helps!

If you retook Psych and received an A, that brings your GPA up to 3.5, a shoo-in for the past several semesters at WCCCD. Seems worth it to retake it and land your grade out of the ballpark than going for an LPN program/RN bridge (faster.)

I know it's hard. Your grades are good. Seems crazy they won't get you in as is, but nursing is white-hot now, as you know. I admire your hard work.

Hi, If you retook Psych in the summer ending on July 30th then you could apply on August 26th, September 15th or September 30th for January 09 admissions. Since September 30th is the deadline date the meeting starts at 1p-330p. All the other meeting start at 530p-700p. You have to have Psych completed, because it is a Prereq. Hopes this helps. If I don't get in this fall I'm going to reapply for January admission. Good Luck
