Wcccd, Hfcc, Mcc, Occ?

by AnnieMc

As a freshman this year to college (I go to OCC), I just signed up for general education classes because I didn't know my major. Those being
Intermediate Algebra
Intro to Psychology
American Government
Piano
Yoga
Only 13 credits total. I really regret not signing up for a science class. That means It'll take me 2 years to finish general education roughly, unless I take Microbiology and Anatomy 1 next year. The counselor told me she didn't know of any nursing programs that started in the winter, but I saw a few posts about people who got accepted to the winter semesters. OCC application deadline is May 1st, so I couldn't have my prereqs done by then. And the program only starts Fall.
Does anyone go to OCC, and could recommend the fastest way to earn my ADN?

What colleges start Winter semester for ADN?

Thanks

HFCC has winter enrollment, but I have such a bad attitude today, that is all I am going to say about it.

I hear the accelerated program will not continue new admissions. It seems they ran out of money, making that program graduating only 2 classes.

I took most of my pre-reqs at OCC. I as far as I know, the May application deadline will cease this year. Because they are implementing a GPA system in 2008, the deadline to apply for fall 2008 is December and you will find out if you've been accepted around March. This is what I was told when I applied earlier this year. If I were you, talk to counselor Sloan. He is very knowlegable and can give you accurate information - he is one of the few counselors that accept NS applications. You could also check out their website which has a ton of information. They only hold NS in the fall so far and you will have to have all prereqs completed or near completion before applying.

Sticking to classes needed to get your pre-reqs out of the way will be the fastest route to your ADN. I'm not sure when winter registration starts, but be one of the first to register because nursing pre-req classes fill up fast - especially the Bio's. If you can't get it now, people always drop classes before they begin so check the website everyday.

HFCC and WCCCD are the two schools I know of that offer NS both fall and winter. Keep in mind that pre-reqs are different for different schools.

Good Luck!

It sounds like you need a big hug MySimplePlan. Hugs out to you from a WCCCD 1st yr student that sometimes has a bad attitude day as well. I think that comes with the program...lol.
WCCCD also has winter registrations.

I'd like to add to utilize the summer term taking classes too. Some students chose to take a break but I managed to get ALL of my co-reqs done while getting the pre-reqs done. Good luck to you!

Aw, thanks, AuntNana. That was very sweet of you.

Today was a better day. Yesterday wasn't about HFCC so much; it was more about my clinical yesterday, and the lovely floor I was on. (Not!)

Speaking of WCCCCD, my friend in Peds just took her last theory test yesterdayand passed! She has about 10 days left and she is DONE with nursing school!!! I am so excited for her.

Again, thank you for the online hug. Nice to know we're all in this together!! (OK, so I hijacked my kids' song lines.....)

We're all in this together
Once we know
That we are
We're all stars
And we see that
We're all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come

We're all in this together
When we reach
We can fly
Know inside
We can make it
We're all in this toghether
Once we see
Theres a chance
That we have
And we take it

Okay, that was my High School Musical moment...My kid also got me hip on that song.... Aghhh! okay, I am doing some on-line banking then I am off to clinicals this morning....

I think I would arrange myself on a chandelier if I had to go to clinical again this morning.
