It started at 5:30, and I got there at about 5. I sat in the third row because the first two were full already. When they initially started to do the applications, they started from the front row, 8 people at a time. They wouldn't give the apps until you went up to the table. It was ridiculous and taking forever. People were fighting to run up to the front row to be next. So then after 3 groups of 8 people went up, Ms. Norris made everyone write their name on a slip of paper and it became a random drawing. Then she finally handed out apps to everyone, and this sped up the process quite a bit.
I got there at 5 and did not leave until 8:45, and there were probably 30 people left to go when I left. Also, I attended an information meeting last summer, before they started doing information meeting verification forms. I knew nothing about these until today. Fortunately, I knew what day my meeting was, so I was allowed to write it on the front of the app and they will supposedly look it up. Also beware, the reference letters are supposed to be dated for May.
So I am feeling a little pessimitic about being accepted with my 3.6. There were a lot of people there and this was just one of the meetings. I especially was feeling crappy when the girl who sat by me for 3 hours was a 4.0. It just made me wonder how many students in the room were higher than me. I guess I'll just hope for the best. Good luck next week. In case you didn't know that meeting is at 1 or 1:30, they changed it from 5:30. So just double check and get the right time.

Wowwww, that sounds insane! I'm still tripping off of the fact that you got there at 5 and didn't leave until almost 9. That's ridiculous! I appreciate you letting us know how it went so that we'll know what to expect for those of us going next week. I plan on getting down there at 12. I'm going to be tired being that I'm going straight from work so hopefully I won't be down there for a long time. The large amount of applicants makes me nervous as well, but if I don't get in, I'll just try again. Well thanks again, and I sincerely wish you the best of luck! I'll post with details once I go....

Wow, best wishes to everyone applying for the fall. I had a friend attend the meeting for the 24th. She also said it was a mad house and VERY unorganized... . If you are planning on attending the application meeting for the 30th, make sure you have both papers of the background check. My friend had everything in order except for the 2nd sheet of the check, and she was turned away. Oh another thing, when I applied, they did not accept reference letters from WCCCD instructors.

I don't know what it is with the fall start vs the winter start. My application meeting back in September was as smooth as silk. I applied at the Eastern campus, there were only about 30-40 people in the meeting and we were done in less than an hour.

You guys just hang in there. {{Hugs}}

What second page of the background check? I could only find one and only turned in one!

Why can't WCCCD get it together with these meetings???? With as many as they hold, they KNOW what to expect. Why can't they streamline them to make it more efficient? Unreal.

well I called the nursing office today and they ensured me that my background check that was one page was sufficient. They said as long as it says that you have no criminal background then you are okay.

I am really glad that I applied when I did in March. Although my co-reqs that I completed in May would have help my gpa go to a 3.8(something) instead of the 3.75(or something like that that I applied with. But I have a low tolerance for chaotic situations, so I have no regrets.
