Do you think employers care that you are graduating from an NLNAC accreditted program?

No.

Can you get a job outside of michigan if you graduate from a program that is not accreditted by NLNAC?

Yes.

Every program requires something different. WC3 goes by GPA, HFCC by those five or six classes they want you to have finished prior to the nursing program.

I am a HFCC grad of 2005 and wished I went to WC3 because they would have required me to take Pathophysiology and Microbiology, two classes I feel are important.

My sister would probably have to wait 2 years to get in at HFCC, I told her to go to WC3

By the way, shouldn't you all be studying?

Which are the same number of classes WCCC wants you to have finished, right?

What stopped you from taking them on your own?

I've finished.

I'm currently at Oakland University and took Microbiology already. I'm doing the Rn-bsn program. I'm not sure if pathophysiology is required although I'd like to take it. Mysimpleplan, you're a new grad right? Well, if so congrats.

I think HFCC requires 65 credits total. I just looked at WC3 and they require 72

I agree with the other posters. I graduate in May from WCCCD, and I have SIX job offers, I stopped applying because I couldn't keep it all straight. Don't believe everything you hear. The program at WCCCD is just as good as if not better than any other nursing program. Our instructors teach at Wayne State, OU, Davenport and others just to name a few. We get the same quality education as any other nurse, but I think we come out better because we don't pay through the nose to get it. While you're doing your research of nursing programs (which you should be if you haven't been accepted anywhere yet), check out our NCLEX passage rate.

Hi Steph,

How can someone check out the pass rates for the NCLEX? I have heard that WCCCD's is very high since they revamped their program, but I am curious as to how high. I am applying there in May in hopes to get accepted for Fall.

TIA!

I would just like to add that some schools are accreditted by different organizations. Wayne state got theirs from CCNE while HFCC got theres from NLNAC. OU has accreditation from CCNE also. People spread way too many rumors about other programs. If people simply went to the WC3's site they would see that yes they do also sit for the NCLEX. This same thing went on two years ago when I was in school, rumors like this need to stop. One nursing program is not better than the other, you learn the same stuff.

When I was accepted two years ago, they told us in Lottery that they had 100% passage rate. They also had 100% passage rate for the December grads. You can always ask the Nursing Dept. and they'll tell you. We have to take an RN assessment exam, a TOTAL review of all material and a Sylvia Rayfield review before they will even send our info to the state. It's all free and just a little tedious, but well worth it. And by the way, they are moving to the new campus on Outerdrive which should be awesome.
