Are there any nurses in Michigan not in school?

by RNCCHP

I frequently visit this site because I plan on eventually moving to Bay City within the next year and the majority of the posts are from people getting into nursing school, going to school, or thinking of going to school. Are there any experienced nurses in Michigan? If not, I'm going to be welcomed into Michigan with open arms because I got lots of it, experience that is. Anyway, I just wanted to communicate with people who have already graduated and worked a while. I guess I'll just keep checking back.

The experienced nurses in Michigan aren't posting because they are too busy working all the overtime created by the severe nursing shortage in this state.

So yes, the students have taken over.

Are you any good at fluid and electrolytes??????????????????

I visit this board all the time, but don't post much because other nurses aren't posting. I wish all these students were on here when I was a studen. lol

I have been an RN for about a year (which is not a lot of experience I know). I live and work in Ann Arbor. Don't know much about Bay City but I'm willing to listen and provide support if possible . And yeah, the comment made about working overtime and the nursing shortage is so true here.

Welcome to Michigan, RNCCHP. I am a fairly recent graduate...and I also check the site for non-student postings. Hmmm, maybe we will need sub-topics here....Student postings and Working Nurses in Michigan postings
What can we tell you about our Great State?
I see by your bio that you are a corrections nurse. Are you planning on going into Correctional Nursing? My husband works at one of the prisons here (Corrections Officer) in Inmate Health. He says that they are "desperately" looking for corrections nurses. No...I am not going there...not out of dislike for the environment...but cuz hubby working there....could cause some conflict and strife, don't ya think ? When are you moving? Please let us know how we can help you.

Thanks for responding.
I have talked to the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) and was told they were happy to hear from me. I am a little disappointed about what appears to be a large pay cut for me, but maybe they'll negotiate with me. I have been in touch with Midland Hospital just as something I can fall back on and maybe the money will be better than MDOC. I am taking ACLS (it's been 10 years) and a trauma nurse course(TNCC), so I will be somewhat prepared to go back into the hospital setting. That is if the MDOC job doesn't work out. As for when I am moving, I have to sell my house here in Vegas first and the market is bad, so it might be at least another year before I move. Please keep posting experienced nurses.
