supplies for hfcc 120/126

by tonyal

Is one of the clipboards with the storage area helpful for clinicals? I was looking at them in the bookstore but didn't want to shell out $25 if I don't need to. Also if anyone used a PDA what programs were helpful. I don't want to add to much but enough to help me. I'll be studying in my car a bunch so I wanted to have something that is useful. I was leaning twards skyscape const. the $90 program, and adding the NCLEX book. Pepid seems to expensive for a 2 yr subscription.
any help I will appreciate.

I used the clipboard that they sold at the fair. It has a calculator on the clip part, and all kinds of info on the board part. I put my pens and penlight in my pocket protector, and stethoscope around my neck. I brought my Davis drug guide with me to clinical, but found that most units already have at least one copy on the floor. You don't want to bring too much because there really is nowhere to put it (remember, we are "guests" on their floor). In 155 I found that I needed the drug book more than 126.

I really found the clipboard w/ storage helpful during clinicals. Anyone in my group w/out one wished they had gotten it.

I almost bought a PDA last semester but thought I'd wait and see if I needed it. I did not need it at all. Once I'm a nurse I'll be getting one I'm sure, but it was not at all necessary for me. No one in my group (or school that I know of ) had one.

As for the Davis, at my hospital, you really needed your own. Several people borrowed mine too.

I also bought a tote bag at Kohls on sale and use it as my clinical bag. I keep my clipboard, pen light, steth, Davis, pens, hospital ID etc in there. It's good to know that I won't misplace my things at home or in the hospital.
