Question about Henry Ford Hospital?

The new on-line hiring system stinks.
A manager called me about a position I didn't even apply for.
My status was stuck at "referred to hiring manager" for weeks, even after I was officially hired in.
And for another position my status stayed at "applied" for 12 weeks, even though I had the experience / credentials for the position.
I would call HR, ask to speak to the recruiter, and if you've been waiting a bit they're pretty helpful.
Hang in there! If you can survive HR the actual hospital is great.

It sounds like nothing has changed. There was a similar on-line hiring system in place at HFH when I first started working there. I did get a call right away from a nurse manager but I also got calls from other managers later even after I already started a job with the hospital. There is a possibility that nurse recruiters distribute applications to managers even in units where you didn't apply to. Give it some time and I'm sure you'll get calls. It's also a good idea to call specific recruiters to find out who's received your application. There is a specific recruiter for different areas and different job descriptions.

I agree, HFH is a great place to work for and there is plenty of clinical oportunities to choose from. Even if you didn't like your first job or unit, you can always transfer to a different unit later on and this kind of lateral or upward mobility is fairly common among nurses there. I'd say it's easier to transition from one unit to the other at HFH than most other hospitals.

Which position are you applying for? If it is PCT, I was told there are at least 200 applicants for each position. I think you have to "know" someone or have connections to get a foot in the door.

I applied for quite a few positions over there like for pct and sitter nothing yet and Nurse assistant I am patiently waiting for someone to call me back

It's funny I applied for the exact same position, oh and about 20 others. I too am on the waitlist at HFCC Preliminary screen is basically what it says after it says applied. I've had a few that have gone as far as routed, which means sent to the hiring manager but UNFORTUNATELY every single one ends up being changed to "pursuing other candidates". I don't have MA experience so you've got one up on me there but I have applied for even administrative positions which I am more than qualified for and still no luck. I agree with another poster that it's not what you know but who you know. I can only hope that I get into the program soon and get that first rotation down and then I think things will start looking up. At least I hope so. I don't know what I'll do if I don't find a job before my unemployment runs out.

Okay, your in luck, i just so happen to still have the number for the HR nursing recruiter, there was a problem a lil bit ago because the original one that i really liked left for some reason so they were training her replacement and she didn't get back to me right away, but things should be up to speed.. this number is the number to her office directly, u'll probably have to leave a message but give ur number and stuff and she'll call u back, shes pretty helpful
