Please educate me on the NET

The colleges I've applied to so far have not utilized the NET although a few that I am considering applying to do. Specifically, what is on this test and how exactly does it work. I'd like to be fully prepared for when I have to take it and be ready to do my best on it.

The Nursing Entrance Test (NET) tests your comprehension and application of scientific reading and your basic math skills including simple algebra. You have 1 hour to finish each section. There is a book available by HOBET and there are many resources on the web to help you prepare. It is not a hard test so do not worry yourself. Most find the English more challenging.

Good Luck!

Find a sixth-grader and help them with their math homework for a week. There. You've reviewed for your math section. That's all it is. Make sure you know ratios and percentages, though. There's a fair amount of it on the NET.

The English part - eh. If you get a halfway interesting selection, it's not bad. (I got infectious diseases, right up my alley.) If you get the hibernation habits of bears, good luck.

I hated taking that bloody NET test.

How can you remember the reading topic????? I probably forgot before I left the room!

I'm with you, though - the math was easy, the reading was hard!

I used my 11th grade niece to refresh me on the math. I borrowed the NET study guide from a friend & scanned the math questions so she knew where to start w/me.
One thing that stood out in my mind while skimming through the reading comprehension part is when it said to read the possible answers prior to reading the paragraphs. That way you have an idea what you're looking for. Being a timed test, it's a bit stressful but you can do it.
I hope that helps. It did me. Good luck!

And one more thing... I found that if you can get a hold of the Med Math book used for that class, the first few chapters actually walk you through the math you will need. It's got practice equations throughout.

Also good to note...read the paragraphs!!! I know someone who did not read so throughly because she knew the information. Only problem is they didn't use the same information she knew. Answer what the paragraphs say NOT what you think they should say. You should do well if so...I did well...but remember study!!! Especially if you are not a good test taker!

Is it taken on the computer or on paper?

Also, just what are the most difficult math concepts on it?

The reading isn't hard, it's the nit-picky questions the test asks.

A good recommendation is to read the 'stem' of the question before you read the selection, so you know exactly what you should be looking for in the paragraph.

The test is on computer at HFCC. At WCCCC, I took it on paper.

Good luck!
