I got my phebotomy certificate while waiting to get into a nursing program. They have it at Baker College. Although it was great training and will help me as a nurse, I have not found 1 job as one since obtaining my certificate. Maybe you will have better luck. I don't regret taking it though, I do have an upper hand when it comes to drawing blood.

Have you looked at like a blood bank or quest diagnostics? I was hoping to get into something like that. Would I have better luck as a cna w/ phlebo?

I think yes, you would benefit from having the CNA and phlebo.
I have looked EVERYWHERE for a job in phlebotomy. It is kinda to late now, as I'm graduating nursing school in August. But I do like having the knowledge of phlebotomy it will help me be a better nurse.

Most blood banks such as ARC only use RN's for draws and Quest requires 6 months experience. I got my phlebotomy training at Schoolcraft College. I looked for jobs fruitlessly until I found that some local hospitals are taking on phlebotomists as PCA's. The pay is alright - but the work is very hard. I don't do a ton of draws, but I am learning tons towards my nursing.

You can also try to get a Lab Draw job. Network hard and let everyone who you know in the field that you are looking for a job.

Good Luck!

There is a program up here in Flint that offers cna and phlebo training together. I am seriously thinking about it. I need to get some extra income coming in.

I would do it. Any type of medical training is worth it in the end. Plus if you go on for nursing it will give you that much more experience. How long is will it take you to take it?
