Phlebotomy

350.00 is dirt cheap. There is a phlebotomy school in Allen Park and they charge 800.00. I don't think you will find it cheaper elsewhere.

I notice a lot of the Patient Care Assistant/Associate jobs at U of M require phlebotomy training and was thinking of getting certified myself. There is one in Jackson at the Jackson Area Career Center (where I'm taking my CNA class) for $500.

Phlebotomy seminars and workshops are hard to come by anywhere. Since venipuncture is an invasive procedure and the number of lawsuits for phlebotomy related injuries (not necessarily done by a phlebotomist) is rising - proper education is very important. Having a seminar to discuss phlebotomy or providing you with a couple of "sticks" cannot provide you with the confidence it takes to be a good phlebotomist. The school in Allen Park MI that timinChrist mentioned happens to be where most of the medical professionals are graduating from. It has been called the Harvard of Phlebotomy and the cost is $900 for a 30 hour course (5 Saturdays) and includes book and unlimited phlebotomy supplies. I have found that Medtexx will certifiy anyone - just give them your money. So if a certificate without education and experience is what you looking for Medtexx is your place. If you are looking for proper training using the CLSI standards - try the school in Allen Park. They are a State Licensed School. I found the number in the Newsherald Newspaper 313-382-3857. has anyone gone to this program? Phlebotomy Education in Garden City.. $925 and they have other schedules/locations but i am taking the advanced course that is the 5 saturdays as stated above.

also, does anyone know if this would be worth it to take? are there entry level phlebotomist jobs out there? from what i've read it seems like most places want 1-2+ years experience. but i want to get into a hospital and i cannot take nursing right now so i thought this might be a good idea to start.

I am a certified medical assistant and also have phlebotomy certification. My personal experience is it is impossible to find a job. I have sent out countless resumes with no response. When I inquire, the response is the same, they want a minimum of one year experience.
