Pager assistance or Blackberry

Not sure where to put this, but since it is "location" specific I put it with the Michigan thread.

I am an RN who lives in Windsor, ON but will be travelling back/forth to work in Michigan.

I am looking to get a pager, but seems that for me to get one in Canada and then use in the US will cost a fortune.

Can I get a pager in MI without living there??

Are Blackberry's allowed in the hospital or are they considered the same as a cell phone?

Any suggestions?
