A&p 1+2

by AnnieMc

Hello - I'm going to OCC and taking A&P 1+2 over the summer. I'm taking it at the Auburn Hills campus with a professor. I was wondering if any of you could recommend the teachers you liked? (I think you have to private message me)

Also - for those of you who are in nursing school - did you keep your A&P text books?

There aren't any teachers I would suggest since I took my A & P classes at the Southfield campus. I did keep my book and all of my notes for future reference.

For those who took A&P already, what was the name of the book you used?

I took A&P 1 at auburn hills two summers ago.

I had a certain prof that starts with a G. Many thought he was really hard but I thought he was super easy. I had a 100% you just have to go to class.

I never once opened the book. Write down EVERYTHING he writes down or says if you take his class and just learn that. The tests are directly from his notes. He has a really dry sense of humor that a lot of people don't get but I think he's funny. People that tried to read the book actually did way worse because they were trying to learn way more than he wants you to-- what he goes through in class is more thorough and better than the book anyway and it's what he tests on.

Labs with him were easy too I didn't even go and still had 100% he just tells you which things he expects you to learn at the beginning of the lab-- I'd note them and then go home and memorize them.

A lot of people did not do well in the class (below Cs). Frankly I don't know how that's possible. If you show up to class, take notes and learn everything in the notes there is no way to do badly. The class does take a lot of time and you do have to put in the effort to study (the day before a test I would study about 14 hrs straight to make flashcards and learn them but I didn't put in any other time in or read the book ever). I would use the time you would have spent reading the book going over the notes and making cards for them after every class instead of waiting till the day before like I did. Anyone who did badly didn't put in the time or effort to go to every class and learn everything in the notes.

Hope that helped. For the what it's worth department that was actually one of my favorite courses and G is one of my top 3 professors. Be warned if you miss a class though you're really putting yourself behind and he talks about a lot of stuff not in the book so there is really no way of compensating for a missed lecture. When I had him he also does not post notes online so the only way to get them is to be there everyday.

Oh - I bought the book on Amazon, I didn't really see her picture :P

And Katie thank you SO much! I have the same professor as you. I am making it my goal not to miss one class for this summer semester. Would you recommend that I get a voice recorder and listen to it for studying? Or do you think I can get by taking really good notes? Thanks again Katie!

I didn't use a recorder because I'm an auditory learner. A lot of other people brought recorders to class and they found them helpful. He can talk pretty quickly and you need to write FAST to catch everything so a recorder could be helpful to listen to later and fill in any holes in your notes.

Have fun I hope you like having him as a prof I sure did
