Does anyone know how long it will take them to approve your case and cut you the check? It's been 2 months already since I took all the required tests and met with my advisor. I haven't heard anything back since. I'm completely in the dark at the moment. Any suggestions? Thanks!

They told me that they would not go any further after the test/counselor part until I have an acceptance letter in hand. I have not heard back from anyone either, hopefully when I do get accepted somewhere I will be good to go.

How did you check your status? I want to make sure I get an answer one way or the other from them before the Fall semester starts in Sept.

I was told by the counselor that I spoke with at the meeting we had after the test (1 week later). I just asked him when the payments are given out. You can try emailing your counselor for more info.

I lsot my job in March. I went to Michigan Works and found out about the No Worker Left Behind Program. I didn't go to the orientation, as they said pre-req's were not covered. Anyone who it trying to get into nursing, please know it is a very long process. If you haven't had classes in over 7 years, you will need to take pre-req's before you are even accepted to the nursing school, and once you are, there is about a 2 year wait. I will be able to apply for the nursing program next spring (Im attending Schoolcraft), and that's with going to school 3/4 time for a full year.
Also, I might be wrong, but I'm not aware of the NWLB giving you a check. From my understanding you get an account that can only be used to the college/bookstore where you are attending.
Good luck to everyone on this venture! It's a hard road, but keep on keeping on!

nwlbnoob, Ive heard your story before and the same thing happened to me. I found out that they were just stringing me along when I was talking to another student who had been to MIworks and went thru the process.

I dont know why they just dont say right up front when you tell them you want to go to NS to come back after all the pre-reqs and you get accepted.

Are you already accepted into the nursing program?

Has anyone been approved and received the tuition money yet? I applied in April and have taken all the necessary steps on my part but I'm still waiting for their decision.

From what they told me they will not pay out until you are accepted into the nursing program after all pre-reqs are done. Are you in a program? If you are I would definitely contact your case worker.
