Re: new-mi nursing schools?
I'm a Nursing student at Macomb Community with only one more clinical/lecture set to go. (yeahhhhhh!) Macomb is a great place to go for nursing. There is no waiting list, but you need to have a great GPA and do well on the Hesi to get accepted. Yes, it can be intimidating at times, but the faculty has been great (in my experience). They don't try to fail you, most of them are very helpful in passing you. The program is very time consuming with a lot of studying and balancing between school and life, so any hobbies or fun you may have will be put on the back burner. As far as the math, it's basic and you can use a calculator.
There are a ton of jobs out there open for nurses in a lot of different fields. The pay is not bad either. I have 2 kids and as soon as I start working as a RN, my husband will be able to cut his work hours and we'll make more than we do now...so yes, you can definitely support a family as a nurse.
I wish you the best of luck in your decision! If you decide on nursing school, I hope you have as great of an experience as I have had so far....and don't give up during those stressful times because in the end, it will be sooooooo worth it!
