new grad jobs?

by lizzy33

HI I was just wondering what the MI job market looks like for new grads? I will be graduating with my BSN and considering a move from Ohio to Michigan so I have a few questions. Are new grads able to find jobs in acute care? Does location matter? I am willing to move to either a large or small city so where should I begin to look? Any advice would be so helpful to me!

I graduated in May, got my license in July and have been applying, going to job fairs, and calling recruiters since then.

No luck.

I've been searching just as long and it's becoming very, very discouraging. I'm close to having to choose a different career path with my degree, if I don't find a job soon. Seems like every hospital is on a shut down...

I did have 2 interviews thus far, but didst get the jobs. So, Im thinking my next option is move out of state. I have to work now that a have a family to provide for.

I was in the same situation that you all are in now. Graduated in May, passed boards in August and couldn't find a job. I've been looking for a job before I graduated which means the search was ongoing for about six months. I just got hired at the DMC on a med-surg floor last month and now into my preceptorship. The DMC has hired a ton of new grads from my school and they all don't have any previous experience including myself. I'm sure you've applied there but try calling the recruiters for Sinai-Grace, Harper or Receiving. I know there are still hiring.

Good luck to you all and keep your heads up. You will find a job!

Yeah I had a interview at Sinai back in July, no license yet and I was pregnant, maybe my chances will be better now with a license and not being pregnant.

Don't give up, keep trying. After I passed boards, I applied to numerous jobs at the DMC before I finally got a call back. Now that you have your license, you are in a better position. Keep applying and calling recruiters as much as possible. There is a job out there that has your name on it. Stay positive and persistant.

I graduated in May, started looking in Feb, I have a job in a LTC, not what I expected, I have had several interview, but no other job offers. It has been really discouraging. I have apps in at over 15 hospitals, and more. Well over 100 apps. I am trying to push my BSN through hoping to get a job in education.
