Re: In need of advice, please?
I'm so sorry you're in a less than ideal situation right now

The economy is so tough right now, and I know how difficult it can be to not have employment.
Where have you applied? What types of jobs are you applying for? Even though they might be jobs you don't necessarily want to take I'd apply to every restaurant, bar, fast food joint, and every store in the closest mall... A lot of places will probably be hiring within the next few weeks if they lose a lot of employees going back away to college or back to high school. A job is a job and when times are tough it's not really possible to be picky.
Once you get called for winter 09 semester you can start working in the hospital as a tech that summer, and you will be able to quit your temporary and possibly less than ideal job.
I don't know as I'd go in to an interview and tell them I'd be quitting in January. I would just omit that. When asked when you can work let them know when you can work currently and through the fall semester. When you go back to school let them know your schedule a few weeks before you are scheduled to begin, and let them know that they'll need to be flexible. If they're not willing to work with it you can move on, but I find if you're a good employee your job will be happy to schedule you whenever you can work.
I guess I just wish you the best and hope your situation improves. Keep us posted and perhaps someone else will come along and offer superior advice. Just keep applying (and not a few place I'm talking 50 here) and you will get hired somewhere. Good luck
