MidMichigan Hospital Midland?

by RNCCHP

Anyone know anything about MidMichigan Hospital in Midland? I was contemplating going for an interview when I move there this summer even though my specialty is corrections. My friend from Michigan mentioned to me he thought it was a decent hospital, but he's never worked there.

I am a nursing instructor and we had clinicals there last semester, so here's my 2 cents worth. Nurses on med surg floors seemed nice and worked together fairly well. Didn't see a lot of backstabbing. They do team nursing with 1 rn, 1 lpn, and sometimes a cna. Usually have 10-12 pts. I have also had 2 "friends" (acquaintences) that worked there. One loved it (day shift) and she is known to be difficult to work with at times and the other hated it (night shift) and she is a top notch nurse- smart and easy to work with. What does this all mean? I have no earthly idea Good luck with your decision!

First, sorry if this posts twice...
Had experience last fall as a nursing instructor on med/surg. Nurses seemed nice and seemed to get along well. I have had 2 acquaintences that have worked there. One, day shift, loved it and she is known to be somewhat difficult to work with. The other hated it (night shift) and she is a top notch nurse, smart and easy to get along with. Good luck with your decision!

While I can't tell you how the work environment is, my Mom suffered a CVA a couple of years ago and was hospitalized there. We had no complaints about the care, and the nurses seemed to be available and happy to help for the most part. Hope this helps.

If you work nights you may have a few hours of no unit clerk, as they are "shared". But that was a few years ago. I was a tech there and had alot of good training and clinical experience.

I worked at MidMichigan-Midland as an extern and would have stayed if life hadn't moved me out of the state after graduation. Several of my classmates accepted positions there and love it. The Director of Inpatient Nursing is a wonderful woman and is more than happy to work with you to find your best fit at the hospital. The DON's name is Andrea Frederick. You can call the switchboard (989) 839-3000 and ask for her. I hope you check it out and like it as much as I did!

I moved to Massachusetts instead...long story. I wished I'd gone to California instead. I think I'll head back west next year. I miss the culture. It's tooo cold here.
