Michigan nurse vegetarians/vegans?

by RNCCHP

Just wondering if any nurse vegetarians/vegans living near Bay City?
I'll be moving there next month and don't know where I can buy my organic vegetarian/vegan food without driving to Detroit area. It's tough meeting nurses who eat healthy and don't smoke...I could never figure out why this is even after 14+ years of nursing. Why don't nurses treat themselves better???

I don't live anywhere near the Bay City area, I'm from SW lower Michigan.

But... I'm a vegetarian. I can't give up my yogurt, otherwise I'd be a vegan

Best,
Diane

PS There are not many places near where I live to buy organic and vegan items, unfortunately......

Have you ever tried "All Natural SO Delicious Dairy Free Creamy Cultured Soy?" Absolutely delicious, and has 6 active and live cultures, and is totally dairy free. Comes in about 6 different flavors. I get mine at Wild Oats/Whole Foods currently.

Actually I have not tried it. Thank you for suggesting it.

I should check with our local health food store to see if they carry it.

Have you heard of the Cancer Project? It is based on a recent study of how diet has a huge influence on cancer prevention. I went to one of their cooking classes and they promote the vegan diet.

Here is their website if you are interested. http://www.cancerproject.org/recipes/index.php

Also have some awesome recipes on their website (I know they are good, I sampled them during the cooking class).

Thanks again for the info!

Best,
Diane

Some of the grocers in Michigan carry some vegetarian and vegan items as well as organic produce. Kroger, VGs, and Meijer come to mind, however availability and selection is based on demand.

You may have some difficulty locating what you are looking for in the Bay City area. I believe that there are some food co-ops, farmers markets, and farms located in surrounding cities such as Midland, Saginaw, and Flint.

Best of luck to you.
