MCC shoe question

OK, so am I going to be chastised or what? I went to get the shoes I had picked out at the New Balance store today, only to find they were not available in the size I need (mens size 13 wide). These shoes would have been perfect, all white leather, but alas it was not to be. It would seem that there is very little in the way of all white leather for the size I am looking for, from any manufacturer I have checked most on-line nursing shoe stores, only to find mostly women's or standard men's sizes (most only go to size 12 and none have wide) in their offerings. So I went with what is available, a set of New Balance white with light gray trim cross trainers, I included a pic. My question is will I be able to get away with these or I am in for a tongue lashing? Has anyone dealt with a similar issue and live to tell about it? I would hate to be singled out as so sort of rebel bent on disobedience, it's is just hard for a 6ft 300+ lbs guy to find the shoes they require. Any input would be appreciated, with thanks in advance and as always, Godspeed!! -Alex-

your first nursing lesson....document, document, document...paper trail, paper trail......print off those sites, with their size offerins, and if possible get documentation from the shoe store....to present to your program
good luck

Documenting the problem and discussing it with someone in the nursing office is a good idea. If they are firm about the all-white rule maybe they can provide you with other sources to find them. If these are the ones you end up wearing, I would just take a tiny brush and paint over all of the colored areas with white enamel paint, lol! It's the individual clinical instructors who enforce the dress code, and some instructors are less picky than others...you'll have eight different clinical instructors before you're done, and having to repeatedly explain why your shoes aren't all-white will be a pain. Just paint 'em!

Geez Alex,

I hope it goes okay for you, because I bought some New Balance 574s that have the very lightest grey that surround the "N."

NBMom, good idea about the paint.

I wonder if liquid white out would work...

Alex, see you in class..I'll look for the guy with with the "illegal" shoes.

Take care,
Hoot

Those are fine! I think only half the people in my class (MCC) have all white tennis shoes. As long as they are mostly white that's all that matters !

I fell like at orientation they said that as long as they aren't all funky with neon colors and stuff that they would be ok. I would save the receipt and bring a picture to ask the first day. Or, paint them like other said!

Seriously, you don't have to bring your shoes to school in the box with the receipt to show the instructors . It is not that big of a deal! People in my clinical group just wore them and never worried about asking permission.

This is a funny thread. It reveals the anal-retentive nature of people who got in the program. I've actually had several of the same thoughts myself about shoes or measuring my wife's sew job on my uniform patch. I actually just spell checked retentive (had it right) when really who cares? It's a message board, if I spelled it wrong I spelled it wrong. Atleast I'll be among friends. Either that or we'll all drive each other nuts.
