St. John River District (in East China) offers the BLS course for $25.00. I believe that it is offered on the last Wednesday of every month. If you go on their website all of the information is there. I know that it may be a little far for some of you, but for those who don't live too far it may be worth it to save a few bucks.

Thanks I did see that but signed up for the closest thing to me out of laziness. Does that include the book I wonder? I have been looking through our required text books and ouch are they expensive!

I do believe that it is the total cost for the class, but I'm not sure if a book is included. I'm a student at SC4, beginning my nursing classes in the fall and I actually took my BLS course through our local fire department for $15.00. I have been certified in the past so it was just a refresher course for me, but they covered all of the basic info.

I think that the $25 class is only good for a year. The AHA one is good for 2 years which makes it almost the same price and with gas driving out to East China, it would be more money over that time period. This is books aside.

I took mine at Baker and it was the AHA one.

Hey everyone. Just did my BLS through facility at 19&Garfield area. It was a AHA class and was about 5 hours but completed in one day. If you've had prior ARC training it is basically the same with the addition of a bag. It was $55.

OK, when I look at the online bookstore of required texts I want to puke.

The one book is definitely one we can buy used, I wonder if anyone has the ISBN number so I can hunt it down somewhere else.

It's the 1510 class of fundamentals of nursing.

I'm not sure if it's one or two years through River District, I thought they were all good for 2 years?? Anyways, as I stated before I ended completing mine through my local fire department and they only charged $15. And it is the BLS certification through AHA valid for 2 years. So it might be worth checking into your local fire deprtment as well, if money's an issue.

Definitely not all good for 2 years. The Red Cross is only good for 1 year, while the American Heart Association is good for two years.
