mcc ns starts next week

Hi I am so excited to start the program. I have read so many things on how scary school will be, 50% make it, no time for anything but studying, a syllabus that is about a hundred pages, etc. Yet, I cannot wait to meet all of you and get started. Seven more days. Who's with me?

I have never heard that the fail rate is 50% . We only lost one during our first semester. The syllabus and the first day handouts may be 100 pgs, but it is full of powerpoint notes. The actual syllabus is only a few pages. It's really not scary, the 1500s were not bad at all.

We lost maybe 1 person - it's not that bad. The beginning semesters you don't have to study as much - some got by not even reading the book. I'll say that won't work the for 1600's though.

Anyways, gl, see you around the shop

Three more days! I can't wait to finally get started. I'm super nervous, though. I think it's the fear of the unknown and it will all be ok once we get in there and start working. Enjoy your last few days off (although I don't know about you but I've been reading every day so I already feel like I'm in class).

Hope you all had a great start! Just wondering if you can enjoy this weekend or if you are crazy busy studying.

Hey Inspire,

It's only because of the holiday that I'm not insanely busy studying. The reading for the first week isn't bad so far, but take into consideration that we have two weeks of 1530 before we start the 1510s/1520s, and it turns out that we really only end up with seven weeks of lecture classes due to Labor Day. I can't decide if that good or not. The reading for the second week of 1510 is (really!) [I am NOT lying...ask Squirrelking] 13 chapters. So even though it's light right now, there's much, much more to come.

I will tell you that for sure, so far, all is great...the skills lab is actually fun and our instructor is very nice and seems to want us to succeed.

I will try to keep you posted.

Take it easy,
Hoot
