MCC Clinicals question

by inspire

Just curious how many hours, days per week, responsibilities. Do you work as a group with other students or are you on your own? I can't wait to start the program! Thanks!

It really depends on what instructor you end up with. Some have been around longer than others and really know their stuff, and expect you to dive in and learn. Others are more laid back and you don't get as many hands on tasks or experiences. If you look at the school schedule you can see how many days you do clinicals and lectures. I had that all figured out well before I even applied to the program . You don't usually work in groups, you get assigned a pt of your own. First semester responsibilities include full pt care. That could mean bed baths, bed pans, etc. if you pt requires it. It could mean foley insertion or removal. You may get to do wound care and mess with drains. You may get to suction a trach. It always includes passing meds! I didn't get to do much more than pass meds, the highlight was administering a sub-q injection and doing an orthostatic bp. I expect that the second semester will kick my butt!
