LCC Accelerated Nursing Program

I also got accepted to the traditional program (spring), but with 77 pts. I think there is no rhyme or reason as to how they choose what semester you start in; my advisor told me it's random. You can request a semester change at orientation.

Sorry, I am no help on the accelerated program. I met one PCT who is in the accelerated program and she said it is doable if you have good time management. I believe they have two days of class and two days of clinical (some on the weekends). I chose not to go that route because I don't think I can handle that fast of a pace with two young kids at home. Good luck with your decision.

I was in the very first accelerated program that graduated at LCC. I would say if you get in, do the accelerated format. It is fast paced but I really enjoyed it and felt like it was over in no time. I worked 20 hours a week during the majority of the program and never felt overwhelmed. There were many people in my group of students that even worked full time and had children to care for as well. We did get quite a few clinical rotations that were nights and or weekends as opposed to the full time students who pretty much only get daytime weekday clinicals.

As far as points, I can't really tell you how that works since they redid the accelerated point system since I started. Also the previous poster was right, they randomly assign fall & spring starts to the accepted full time students, it has nothing to do with how high up on the list you are.

Congrats on your acceptance into the Traditional Program for the Spring of 2010! I was thrilled to receive my letter of acceptance for Fall of '09'. Weeks of waiting for that letter and not knowing whether I'd start in the fall or spring was taking its toll on me. I really do think that it is a random selection for who starts in the spring and who starts in the fall. I say this because I had fewer points than you (78) and was (luckily enough) selected for fall admission. Do you know what the points cut-off was this time? Since I don't have work experience or residency, I feel like I'm probably getting in right under the wire with my measly 78 points! Anyhow, good luck at LCC, whether it's in the Trad. program or the Accelerated program!

I'm going to the orientation on the 14th. I can't wait
