Interested in the LPN program

I can't speak to how competitive the program has been in the past, but this year there were many applicants. I think they were expecting 120 people for 30 spots. We are, right now, in the process of waiting to see who will be accepted to start in September 2009. I think we'll find out by the end of the week or so. Applications for fall were accepted until 7/2/09.

As for competitive, well I think it is very competitive. I'm not sure of the exact GPA needed, but likely in the 4.0 range probably, though one can get through with a lower GPA if they get the rest of the points available (e.g. 11 pts available for the HESI in total). It is all based on points. From what we were told, there are 25 pts available - 9 from GPA, 2 for no repeats, 3 for not transferring more than 8 credits, and 11 from the HESI. Last year, it was said that anyone with 21 pts pretty much got in, but this year was expected to have twice as many applicants, so likely it will be 22 or 23 pts. I'm not really sure what a good score on the HESI is, but we had to pass each section with 75%. The sections included grammar, vocab, A&P, math, reading comprehension. The LPN-to-RN bridge was just approved a couple of weeks ago, so that will be available to those who take the LPN program. The first bridge program begins in September 2009.
