How far in advance should you apply for second (2nd) degree accelerated nursing progr

How far in advance should you apply for second (2nd) degree accelerated nursing programs ?

I just graduated from Wayne State University with a BS in psychology. And I decided I would like to get into an accelerated nursing program. How far in advance should one apply for these programs ?
I still have five pre-req to take. I plan to take those over the course of the next two semesters. I'm going to apply to Wayne States program and University of Detroit Mercy. What starting semester should I be applying for ? Is the wait list long for these programs ? Any and all advice would be appreciated.

I don't know anything about UD mercy but I can tell you about wayne.

Wayne State does NOT have a wait list. They admit once a year and it is competitive based on GPA in prerequisite courses as well as some other factors. I suggest you attend an info session (they are held about once a month in the Cohn building. The deadline for the application (basically just a form where you fill out your name address etc) is march 31 and you need to send in all your transcripts and documentation by june 1 so you have this fall and winter to complete your prerequisite courses. If you are accepted into the program you would start fall 2009. I think they might have added a goal statement back to the application. If you attend an information session Moira will probably tell you everything you need to do including any updates and changes.

You could submit your app online through the College of Nursing website www.nursing.wayne.edu as soon as you would like. Be aware that there are more prerequisites for the accelerated second degree program and that you'd need to have all of them done by this june to be eligible for fall 2009 entry.

Attend an info session they are very helpful and will answer any and all questions you may have. Good luck!

I just submitted the online application via the web for Wayne State and if March 31st is the deadline does that mean March 31st 2009 is the deadline for the Fall 2009 or the Fall 2010 start of the program ?

And thanks I just actually have four classes to take for Wayne's program Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition and Organic/Biochemistry.

The march 31 2009 application deadline is for admission to the fall 2009 program. All transcripts showing completed prereqs must be submitted by June 1 2009 for fall 2009 admission. You should have an admissions decision by the middle of June.

I hope you're taking A&P and micro this semester if you're doing them at Wayne-- I think the profs teaching them are easier than the ones who traditionally teach those courses. Good luck and if you have any other questions just ask!

Thank so much for you help. I already applied, so I should be good to go. Just start up classes this semester.
Yea I have to go see an academic advisor tomorrow, so I can have the hold taken off my account, since I am officially a graduate of the university, which makes you unable to register for new classes.
Good Luck this semester.
