Being a nurse aide is one option--our nursing program allowed us to be listed as nurse aides after the completion of the 1st semester. It helps with learning to work with patients. Another option is to be a ward or unit secretary. You can learn a lot about entering doctors' orders and about how the unit functions. I think both are good positions for helping you learn about the environment before making the commitment of nursing school. FWIW.
Best of luck!
