Hippa Violation MI??

I am a CNA at a nursing home. I (as well as other co-workers) have witnessed a pacient doing some illegal things in his room. It is not in anyway concerning drugs or harm to himself. Nor is it directly harming others. Am I not allowed (due to hippa) to disclose this information to the authorities? It makes me uncomfortable working with him. But I'm not sure where the line is drawn and what i can do.

Best place to start would be your supervisor. Usually when law enforcement needs to become involved in a healthcare facility, an administrator (or at least a charge nurse) would be the one to actually make the call.
