HFCC Pre-Nursing student


I just enrolled at HFCC and I'm taking my pre-requisites: BIO 131, PSY 131, SOC 131 and ENG 131.

What other courses will I need in order to get into the nursing program?

When will I have to take my NET exam?

Where can I find all the information about the NET exam?

There are spots available this semester to take the exam but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to take it now or later.

I was also told by the counselor that I won't have to take CHM or MTH since I received a score of 65 on the math portion of the compass test. Is this true?

I would really appreciate any information you can provide for me. Thank you

go talk to lorraine or michelle in the counseling office.
DO NOT believe the normal counselors.
Chem is a prereq so I'm sure you have to take it.
you will also have to take eng132 before you can get on the waitlist. so take the net during that semester. it is only good for 2 years so don't take it to early.
go to the learning lab and they will give you stuff about the Net.

I didn't even bother with the counselors. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAY. NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SCORE WAS ON THE COMPASS, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE CHEM FOR THE NURSING PROGRAM. Sorry for the caps. The counselors are pointless and I learned after the first semester to not even go to them for help. You can go to HFCC's website and find all the required pre-req courses for the nursing program. FOCUS on those courses only. If you need to take an extra class, take medical terminology. I also found Spanish 131? to be easy as well. Got A's in both.

instead of soc i would take the math class that you need for chem. you have to have math080

Would I be able to take MATH 080 and CHM 131 during second semester? I can't believe this counselor convinced me to take sociology instead, I really thought he knew what he was doing. It's first day of school and I tried to see if I can enroll in either the math or the chemistry but both classes are pretty much closed now.

No they don't know what they are doing they are stupid. Don't get advice from them again. come here. Go to Hfcc.edu and look up the nursing program. It will tell you what classes you need.

i was told the wrong chem class to take and was also told 16 credits was a normal full time load. so i wasted a ton of money on stuff i didn't need and I now have 50 credits and am still not in nursing.

I took the net at the begining of the semester of the last of my prereqs. So It was with chem and eng 132.
