Does Beaumont hire new grads?

Hi there. I am will be graduating this spring and am interested in working at Beaumont Royal Oak. I am a Canadian, and my husband is from Michigan. I would like to start working in Labour and Delivery, as I plan on getting my nurse midwifery in a few years. Does anyone know if Beaumont hires new grads, and if they do, would I be able to start in Labour and Delivery? I've been offered a full-time position in L&D in North Carolina. I would like to live in Michigan, as my husbands family live there and is only a few hours from my family, however getting labour and delivery experience is very important. So what are my chances of getting into L&D at Beaumont as a new grad??????

Beaumont offers a graduate nurse internship (don't worry its paid), they give gns' an opportunity to go in to certain units. The internship training lasts 10weeks and in exchange for their training you need to give them a 2yr commit of employment. You are very smart to want to go to Beaumont, they are a magnet status hospital and will pay for you to further your education. I hope to be employed their when I am done with school. Call the main number 248 551-5000 and ask for the nurse recruiter. Good Luck

Start checking thier website next month. I think they hire students for an internship that starts in June or July. The application should go on their website in January.

I thought it was graduate nurses that the internship is meant for.

I too want to do Labor & Delivery and preferred to work for Beaumont. However, they are very firm on wanting 1-2 med/surg experience, and prefer nurses with L&D experience. It is unlikely they will hire a new grad due to the demand on getting in that dept. they usually have a waiting list of seasoned nurses from surrounding hospitals to apply for their positions. They do have internships for med/surg and also ICU positions (the ICU positions usually require previous experience in ICU - Nurse tech, ICU tech, etc.) I have come to the conclusion I must get my Med/surg experience to persue a career in L&D. Best wishes to you.

Beaumont does hire new grads - BUT they prefer to promote from within. I worked at Beaumont Troy and tried to get into Labor and Delivery, but at this point in time they were looking for experienced RNs.
Royal Oak just had a couple of L&D openings around 1-2 months ago, but I can't remember if they wanted experienced or not.
I am a new grad and start a critical care internship at Royal Oak in January-but I am already a Beaumont employee....
Absolutely give the Nurse Recruiter a call as previously mentioned. They are super nice and will gladly answer all of your questions!!

Beaumont hires very few new grads. You need to get in contact with my recruiter at Career Medical Group. Her name is Natalie Slappey she was able to move me from LA to Michigan.

yes, have a friend that graduated from U of M last yr, and was precepted in the critical care area at beaumont hospital...

unfortunately, she didn't like critical care, and they didn't offer another area to transfer to (truthfully, I don't know if she even tried...kind of freaked her out the number of critical care patients that are younger...in their 30's)..she said that the orientation and preceptorship was excellent
