Detroit Children's Jobs

Hi,
Do you know if it's possible to get a job at Detroit Children's with an ADN? Most of their job postings say "BSN Preferred." My dream is work at this hospital and I'm wondering if I'll be able to with an associates degree. Thanks!

I guess the best way to find out is to call them.....or apply. If it says "BSN" preferred, that does not necessarily mean they won't take an ADN. Best wishes to you in your job search.

Well, I'm not looking for a job right now. I'm a pre-nursing student and I'm trying to decide if I should put my name on a wait list for an ADN program or transfer to U of M and go for the Bachelors. My husband wants me to do whatever if fastest, but I'm having a really hard time deciding which is best. I guess I can do the ADN first, finish my re-req's while waiting, then get my BSN online afterward. I really, really want to work at DCH but if I can't until I get my BSN, then that's what I'll have to do. I can always apply, who knows, maybe they would hire me anyway. Even if they did hire me, I'd still get my BSN. Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the mis-guidance.

All Detroit area hospitals hire RNs with ADNs. Yeah, DMC says BSN preferred but they do hire ADNs.

I work at children's as a student nurse, and I'm in an ASN program. They hired me with full intentions to give me a grad nurse position. There are plenty of ADN/ASN nurses on my unit as well. You will be fine. (Plus, they offer tuition reimbursement to get that BSN later!)

Thanks everybody! Just so you know, pedsnurseismydream and destiny4nursing are both my user names. I forgot one password for a while so I started a new name... oh well. I'm so glad to see that it's possible with an associates. I'll be putting my name on that list and hopefully I too will be working there in a few years. I'm so excited now! Thanks for the replies!

I worked for Children's for 7 years and the majority of the nurses on my unit had an ADN. So you should be fine.
