| | Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
Hi Everyone,
I am currently trying to become a cna or a patient care tech in maybe a 10 week program or more through michigan works since they will cover the cost for the program that you pick that is a michigan works affiliate. I was told by michigan works that they do not cover the program that is offered at the Career health studies center on E. 8 mile near kelly, I was told by someone who is attending the classes at the center that this was untrue, that this program is covered by michigan works, is there anyone who knows about this program if so please advise....thanks!

Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
I went there in January, yes it is covered by Michigan Works but to be honest I would not recommend going to Career Health Studies at all. It was a complete waste of my time. The program is only like 10 weeks long (if that)
Most of the days they never began class on time. We had to be there at 8:30 and we were lucky if the instructor started an hour later. Most of our days were filled with talking amongst ourselves or reading out of the book outloud. I really don't feel like I learned a thing from them.
Drawing blood there was a joke. You have to practice on each other which is understandable but the instructors let the students run loose with needles in their hands, I had a bruise for almost 2 weeks from a girl trying to take my blood unsupervised.
And to make matters worse I couldn't get hired by any hospitals. I applied numerous times to many different ones, I was told I didn't have enough experience. I agree with them to be honest, if I were an employer I would much rather hire the person who went to another school for longer time than CHS.
They also charge Michigan Works almost $4,000 for the same class that they charge a regular person off the street paying cash only around $1500. They are ripping the state off and are getting away with it.

Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
Wow...thanks Typhanie78 for letting me know that, that helps me out alot with my decision, I decided to go to the red cross, they have a cna program that I am interested in and right now I am going through the
process with michigan works and waiting for them to call me back for the
next class. I have not heard anything bad about the red cross yet. Mostly positives so I hope that I am making a good choice going with them.
It seems now even with training you have to really work hard to find a job
as a patient care tech or a cna. I just hope that once I am done with my training it won't be really difficult for me to find a job, I'm really desperate to go back to work after this and if I have no other choice I will work in a
nursing home just to start somewhere to gain hospital experience. I was also thinking of taking cna training and phlebotomy at one of the community colleges as well, I figured if anywhere you would have more opportunity to learn it would be the colleges. But I'm going to stick with the red cross and go from there. Pray for me. Thanks for the advice!!
You just save me 1500.00!!

Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
Yep, I know all about it. This place is a Rip-Off. If you come across this, and your on there payment plan, don't pay any more just walk away.
There is nothing for you in the end. Places of Buisness don't want them because they are not accredited. So your throwing your money into their pocket, and getting them buisness, keeping them opend. They should be closed. We were the biggest class they had, graduated in sept. 2008. We still don't have jobs. Internship is a joke, they give 1 or 2 people "if lucky" a chance at internship, when anyone who graduated with a C+ or better, were GUARANTEED jobs. What a joke. They should be sued for Fraud, and Breach of Contract. Problem is,,, everyone just says the heck with it, I got took, o well, and they let it go. If you see this, and its got your attention, pass it on to someone else that could use this. If you are threw Michigan Works "Roseville office knows about this place." contact them send them this and tell them to contact a worker there "a supervisor" and tell them what you know. This will help a great deal against them. They just keep opening newer schools, whenever they seem to get into trouble. Do the people in this state a favor, and don't go to them for education. You'll never get one. and there just gonna get more and more buisness, when they are ripping the state off, and the people. Ashamed to call myself a GRADUATE.

Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies? Do you want to be jobless? Do you want to teach yourself? Do you want to be lied to time after time? Be promised an externship and not get one? If so, then go to CHS!!! Because that's about all that you will get from that place! I had a 99.9% grade average and was promised an externship, here it is 8 1/2 weeks later, still nothing but lies from them. They aren't even accredited, and they will tell you that they are. And definetly do not take your national exams there, they don't forward them to the NHA. They especially like to take advantage of those who are going through MI Works. If you have been taken by this school, please don't sit back and do nothing. Write to the attorney general, write to the govenor, call MI Works if you went with them. The more who let them know what is going on, the better! | | No. 6 |

Did they find you a job like there suppose to, did you do 160 hrs externship.
Or were you given one of thear fake certificates, and told good luck.
How can u say u r pleased, when they are not even a accredited school.
If I were searching for a school, and saw all this stuff against them, and only 1 person saying yes they are wonderful. I would have to wonder about that 1 person. Because I sure wouldn't go.
The Director, and Administrator should be busted for Fraud, and Breach of Contract. Someone that was took by this clip joint.
p.s. If you don't realise it yet? Don't worry u will.

Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
Everything that I was taught at CHS I learned, 99.9% worth. But most of what they taught I already knew from previous job experiences. Let's see...their mental health tech information was real helpful...a four page handout to read with part of it missing. Dialysis education was even more helpful, a lady came in and talked about her job for an hour! If you go to a vocational school through MI Works, they ARE required to help with job placement. In their school description for MI Works, CHS claims they require a 160 hour externship, they hardly placed anyone from my class in externships. They do not forward NHA exams, so are you truly certified? They make their own certificates right there at the front desk, they are worthless. The school isn't even accredited. I've helped myself plenty, I taught myself and I am finding a job by myself. I have not or will not depend on a bunch of crooks and liars for assistance in the real world.

Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
Looks to me like the school has descovered the LINK, and everyone is going to add there own B.S.. You say the school taught you well, we had almost 2 weeks of teaching ourselves. Responsibility was not even taken seriousley in this school. Teachers started when they felt, and ended when they felt like it. We learned book work, but thats about it.
Our 3 or 4 hrs. of work at a soup kichen turned into our externship. "THATS A JOKE!" You people who are going to come on here and say how wonderful this place is have missed a key pointe. Look at the dates of the first posting and the response. That alone tells everyone that this place is not worth the time of day, from way back then. There is no changing that, all the B.S. that suddenly appears as a big possitive for the school, well,,, the readers arn't blind or dumb. So keep trying, Your only showing them what u showed us. You are Conn Artists, You enjoy ripping people from Michigan Works "They pay more, so more money for you." You figure $5,000.00 a head from MW, at least 20 students per 8 week course. Thats $100,000.00 every 8 weeks. Thats not including the smaller class thats used to pay the bills. Were talking big money, at a fast pace, and the certificate is about as valuable as toilete paper... Come on people wise up, cause we've wised up to you. If you are considering going to school, go some place else. Do yourself a favor, and don't get ripped off. As far as employment, I'm taking care of that. MW should be told that this place doesn't even bother, when they contracted, and "YES" it says they do provide employment. Smells like Breach of Contract to me.
