Thumbs up Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
I didnt put a response on here to argue with people! You put your opinion which unfortunately wasnt a good one and I put mine which was. I have my Nha certificate along with my entire class, my intership was 120 hours and then I was hired directly through the company because I am good at my job, also my certificates are accepted any where I have taken them and it was CHS that helped me achieve all of this so for those of you that it didnt work out for thats unfortunate but for me it was a great school

Lets see now,, They no longer teach a HHA class why? ask them.
They no longer teach a CENA class. why?? They were in the process of losing there license last time investigated, so, since they don't teach that class,, my guess is they did lose it, or its still held up. Either way this school is not scoring any points to brag about. The building is a dump, your education that you are given is a joke. They are suppose to bring in a machine so that they can keep making those obsolite books over, and over again. Just to save money, and say "We didn't realise the book had that many mistakes in it." Yeagh right, for a paperback book that is at least 6yrs. old! At lest invest in a bottle of white out, fix your mistakes, and then roll those bootleged books right of the machine. What a Jip!!!/and a Joke!!!
There certificates "or what ever they are suppose to be." are printed off a printor, signed, and a piece of GOLD FOIL is glued to it. "NOW IS THAT BOOTLEG OR WHAT?" Contact a place of buisness now and see if anyone really wants to do buisness with them. "NO!!" is what u hear. We don't deal with them, to many problems, students are not educated properly. NO KIDDING! They don't bother to teach you there. So if you are from the ice age or somthing, before they got all screwed up, and got a job because you went hear, then good for you. But lets talk from last year on to now. Basically 90% didn't do a externship,"and i'm being generous with these numbers" and no means of employment through a vocational school thats poor grades for this school.
If you worked in a Hospital, and went to school here to update your skills. Thats a whole different thing. Your allready employed, and your employer has chosen this school because its cheap. "THAT ONE WE ALL TALKED ABOUT!" Thats the only reason, because they are not even accredited. Doesn't that matter to you? Because it should.
If not ,,then I guess it doesn't matter to you. The Certificates matter, but accredation doesn't? Accreditation means more then Certification. It means you went to a proper Nursing Facility for schooling. As far as for your resume for schooling it means nothing. Think about that.

O.M.G., What a bunch of loozers. I'm glad someone from MW told me to check this out, before i made up my mind. I'll go to the Red Cross for classes before i go to this kind of place. Your name shouldn't even be on the list. I couda waisted my No Worker Left Behind chance at schooling in a place like this! No Way! I'm letting my Case Manager Know, that I changed my mind. All you laid of workers out there, don't go here it's messed up.

I went to this school in 2008 also, I will agree it is full of mess. I can say more, but I will keep that to myself. However I would NOT recommend this school to anyone. If you go on an internship it is guarantee that you will not get hire because when they send you the company they are not hiring. And if the staff acts like if they know the clients. That is a lie because if they knew the client they would get at least 95% of the student a job. When I attended their only two of the student got a job, one at a nursing facility, not a hospital, and the other I will not speak of. I bet if you ask your class mates if they got a job dealing with Career Health Studies I guarantee most of them did not get one. I have plenty to say but I will not, I just want to put my input in it too. But if anyone decides to take a chance good luck to you, you have my blessing.

Post Note Re: Anyone know about the patient care tech program at the Career health studies?
If you want to go to a good school please go to (The American Red Cross on Woodward) and take the CPCT-Certified Patient Care Technician you will be better off with Red Cross and they are also recognizable. If you want to become PCA- Patient Care Associate you must take the NA-Nurse Assistant class first or already is a Nurse Assistant. Their classes are $900.00 for the NA, and $950.00 for PCA, and classes are 3 to 4 weeks. If you need further assistant please call the numbers below. I hope this will help anyone who would like to become a nurse assistant or patient care associate, (by the way PCT and PCA is the same but a different name.) Maybe you can give them a call and hopefully they will be able to assistant to you

They have a LPN program. So few actually get in that there aren't enough to tell us what it's about. I ran into one girl who graudated and she said she did find a job right afterwards. But that's just her

Is everyone referring to the Detroit Healthcare Career Center?

If so, I was in the other thread explaining my experience and no one responded to me. I discussed how this place just sends you around in circles, I wasted valuable time there that I could have been put forth at a community college. I would have been done with my pre reqs if I had not had put any faith in there thinking I would get my LPN certification. I'm glad I wised up quickly and went back to community college.

I never attended their CNA or PCA class, but I did sit in thier Success one which was intended to help you find a job which they never did.

They told me that in order to get in their PCA class, I have to take their CNA class (I am already a CNA) in order to progress to PCA. just a complete waste of time. I am not about to put college on hold just to take a 4 week + class that I am already State certified in when I can be getting my college credits in. No way!

As soon as I saw the first positive comment about this place I knew it had to be from someone who worked there. It's an obvious and lame attempt to keep screwing people over.
