Excited 08,

Glad you gave it a try. You know what you can and cannot do or may be unable to do and that is an awful lot to pay back if you do not succeed. Good luck to you in the traditional program.

Other than that... so far so good the instructors are really cool, they let you know everything you need to know in order to do well its almost like... you can't lose. Though everyone functions at a different pace so for some it can be a bit much. And although we cover a good deal of material, it's not overwhelming. The long day's on monday its just study time class is over by 12 or 2 study time until 5pm and they're even flexible with this. Today class was over by 12 and we met with clinical instructors at appointed times for a Videotaped Assessment to critique our interaction skills with clients and the rest of the day is ours.

It seems like a lot, depending on who you are and your current situation; but if you have a positive outlook on things you will succeed.

I APPRECIATE YOUR ATTITUDE AND I WISH U ALL WELL. I know that u will do well because yes it is almost like a given but, however saty on top of your studies and make sure that u study a couple of hours a day and i know that u will do well
good luck!

And its funny because my first two teachers for 120 and 126 are still (MODERATOR EDIT OF INSTRUCTOR NAMES) LOL
(MODERATOR EDIT OF INSTRUCTOR NAME) said the program is the exact same as the Hospital and that they follow all of the same guidelines as far the school material goes.
So once again i believe that they are doing whatever is necessary for the students to pass and be successful that is if we do our part. So yes they are the exact same other than your program is straight thru and mines have a break and also shorter days
Good LUck and keep me updated on everything
I'm soooooo excited for u all

Well Excited08, I'm glad that you are doing what is best for you I must say, I wish I could have taken your spot, I got laid off about 3 weeks ago and I wish I could take full advantage of it if you know what I mean. I kept wondering what I would do when they called me for the program as far as my job is concerned and well.................I guess I don't have to worry about that any more, LOL.

I'm in the henry ford employee partnership program. We will be graduating in August. We are the second group of mostly employees to be graduating from this extended campus program. Basically it's the same as on campus but you finish in 16 months. The workload is the same but we are different in that we also have to maintain a certain amount of hours on our jobs which is tough. Of the original 60 that started in May of 2007 there are roughly 20-25 of us left. When people drop or fail a course they pull from the college to fill the slots but you still have to sign a 3 year work commitment with the health system if you join our 'special' group because they are paying for the purpose of having future employees. You don't have to work downtown at the main campus just anywhere in the health system full time as an RN. I'm sure you have lots of questions as I did when I began, with not many people willing to give you a straight answer. I wish there had been someone to offer advice about this program when I started so if anyone wants to contact me offline I'd be happy to give ya some advice. So you have less of this later on. You can email me privately too.

REFLECTIONS... I was just stolling down memory lane and happened upon some of my old posts. Well you guys Im done, I came , I conquered. It was all so silly, the previous posts, the bickering and the nonsense. My seemingly arrogance, the "CAKEWALK". Its all been a very humbling and wonderful experience.

Yes, I even had ... (just because of all the eating me up I was told would happen, I personally for the first time in HFCC history requested that ... take me as a student in her clinical group) she was fairly impressed. She didn't even give me a hard time although my careplans and assessments looked as if they'd been bled on, I accepted the challenge with grace and I did pretty good! Even receiving a letter of recommendation for my first job as a nurse intern at a wonderful place in HFHS! I'm also waiting on my ATT and studying for NCLEX.

My experience involved sacrifice, and hard work. I lost many peers along the way. I never said it would be easy. But i was one of the ones who made it and I have all of you to thank for it. Anytime i found myself getting weary, I just remembered all of the things shared among the threads some nice... some not so nice. Unfortunately they no longer offer this program, My learning has yet only begun and I am proud of my HFCC diploma (you all made me that way Its sad that my fellow Nurse Interns or New RN's of 4 year Universities give me that "there there" "good for you" response when I tell them where I graduated from. All I have to say is actions speak louder...

Thanks and good luck to all!

Gentle TOS reminder:

While it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:
  1. It is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. Your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. While allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. Gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. Please do not give out personal information about others. Do not name names where anyone could identify the personin any facility including your nursing programs.
Thanks

I remember that post like it was yesterday!

Nursing School is a very humbling experience. No one can understand how difficult and stressful it is until you go through it. I'll bet you won't be shy to set the next person straight that belittles the community college!

And you made it! Congratulations! Just one more hurdle and you will be an RN!!
