Anyone else applying to WCCCD in May?

Hey everyone,

I was just curious to see who else is applying to WCCCD's nursing program in May for Fall 08. I am going to go to the May 19th to apply so in case I am missing anything I will still be able to complete application on May 30th. I am so excited I think I am going to bust at the seams LOL.

So who is with me?

Hi Serenity, I am going to apply Tuesday on Apil 29th. I am so excited to finally be able to apply. I am confindent that I have everything. In case you weren't sure of what is needed, here's a list, copy of HS diploma or GED, or transcripts, letter stating that you attended the application meeting(given at meeting yellow carbon copy they want that) Essay on why you wish to become a nurse(as long as you want it to be), Transcript from WCCCD(printed from webgate) 2 reference letters one personal, one employer on letter head, if not employed two personal reference's letters dated within 30 days. Police clerance from ICHAT dated within 30 days, and your NET test results. I think my chances are good, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Good luck too you.

Hi Sillyrabbit,

What is your GPA and NET scores? At the last meeting I went to they said that the lowest GPA was a 3.47 for Spring 08 entry. I have heard that Fall entry tends to be a little higher, but I am not sure how accurate that is. I am sure you will be fine and will get in.

Hi Serenity, My GPA is a 3.53 my Net scores weren't all that great but I was so happy to have passed after taking it three times. I got a 70% in the reading with an overall composite score of 64. It just seems as if everyboby else's scores and GPA is higher than mines so it gets a little intimadating when applying. But I have confindence in myself and I have worked really hard over the years working fulltime and a child takes away from some study time. What is yours! Good luckl

Let me just say that I think your gpa and NET are more than good enough to get in their program. I think you will be just fine...as for me, I have 4.0 gpa in my prereq's and I got an 87 composite on my NET, HOWEVER, I only took two classes at a time (all I could afford to pay for because I don't qualify for any pell grant). The only reason I did that well on the NET is because math comes easy to me which help boost my score (I am not that great at the reading comprehension part). Anyway, I am worried about getting in and I take nothing for granted so needless to say my nerves are on edge right now LOL.

I know what you mean about kids taking up study time. I have three kids and worked part time so I totally feel for you there. If I don't get in for the Fall I am definitely going to apply again for Jan and I am also taking Chem 105 this summer so I can take Chem 155 this Fall and then apply to EMU's program for Fall 09....I will not give up on my dream!

PM me so we can talk more!

hi rabbit,
just wanted to say...dont be so worried about ur net score..the only way it will hurt/help you is if you tie with someone's gpa for last spot..good luck!

Hi Kh210sn,

Are you getting excited/nervous? I sure am....I think you will be fine with your GPA. I can't wait until we have all applied and we are waiting for our letters. It just seems so exciting from all the other's who have been posting on here while they are waiting....I can't wait to be in that group!

Hope to see you at the application meeting!
