Any newly accepted MCC students still have prereqs to get done?

by MIKelly

I will be taking my phed class next term (spring/summer) and I'm hoping to get my pathogenic microbiology done this fall. I have had good luck with professors so far (except for the last online phed class I was supposed to be in right now). If anyone needs their humanities requirement done, I highly suggest taking comparative religions with Professor Messana. The summer class is sooooooooooo easy! No field trips and no papers. Just simple matching term tests. I'm sure the regular semester class of his is easy too, but you have to do the field trips.

Well, due to my military commitment, i'll be playing catch up taking A&P and Nutrition in the summer. I'm already signed up, and getting started on studying NOW so i'm not banging my head against the wall :P

16 weeks into 6, oy, should be fun!

Well I know my wife got in for sure, she had a 4.0 and a 97.5 on the HESI, BUT, she's loving her aqccounting field, so even if you get a bad letter, there will be one open slot

Is nutrition online? Do you know what profs you have yet? I had Ragland for both those classes, she is really good.

So your wife applied to the nursing program too but doesn't want her spot after all?

I still have my phed requirement to go and also CPR certification. CPR I am going to take through the red cross. MIkelly I read about your experiences with the online phed class you took, I think we must have signed up for the same one. I ended up dropping mine as well. It was crazy, I was spending more time on that class than on chem and micro. I was going to sign on for the Prevention course, but when my son was born, because he was in the NICU, I had to take a first aid and CPR class so I didnt want to take something I already basically have. I just need the healthcare provider cert. I will finish my phed requirement next semester. I would like to take the pilates class because I love pilates! I have been working towards fulfilling pre reqs for a BSN. I still have to take another eng class, math 1000 and bio chem.

Not sure yet what prof. I have, but i'm taking both classes in class. Going to be long days 8am - 6pm two days a week

MIKelly, do you know what we need for CPR? I was looking at the Red Crosses courses and i'm not sure if we need just Adult CPR or also infant/child.

I've done the Red Cross and AHA class before for the military (but they never give me my cards!!!) so I have to do it again too

A&P is four days a week, not two; you will be on campus a lot! I was going to take it last summer but realized it wasn't going to work with my husband out of town every other week for work.

These are the requirements for the nursing clinicals:
REQUIREMENTS FOR CLINICAL PLACEMENTS

Prior to the beginning the 6th week of clinical course (NURS 1530) students need to be aware of the following requirements:
Health Requirements
  • Complete history and physical exam by a Licensed Physician
  • Titers to determine immunity to communicable diseases
  • Hepatitis B vaccine
  • TB test or Chest X-ray
CPR Certification
  • Students need to complete a CPR course: Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers and need to maintain certification for the duration of the time they are completing clinical training. (Certification may be obtained by taking HEDU 2750)
Transportation, Uniforms and Supplies
  • Students are responsible for all transportation and parking fees to clinical agencies, uniforms and supplies which include: stethescope, scissors, identification badge, and pocket calculator.

The most recent time I went to a doctor was Sept. last year, to start new military records. I don't have much of a 'health history' so I wonder what all they'd like to see.

What are titers for communicable diseases btw? Like tests for HIV and the sort?

And I don't suppose they are suggesting that the HEDU course is the only one you can take to get the required CPR cert. right?

Oy - so much to do
