Any Baker flint Students?

Hi, former Baker student for RN program. I also loved Baker at one time, my goal also to become an RN through their program. I followed all the rules, jumped through every hoop as well as maintained 3.96 and scored well on hesi test, still did not get in. My thoughts are I have spent lots of money to go to school and be greatly disappointed by Baker. I am currently trying to find another route that would afford me something sooner than a 1-2 year wait. I had a great deal of positive feeling toward Baker at one time, I now feel I have invested in one of the biggest disappointments of my life, as well as being extremely costly. There are other schools that are true to their word, hopefully you will have a much more successful experience.

I am still trying to figure that part out, my not getting in made absolutely no sense to anybody I spoke with. Mind you though I am not the only one and I will say that some of the people that got in for Jan 07 were a big surprise to me as I would have never thought they would make the cut. Bonnie Waite gives off a lot of false hope to the pre nurse students. I feel the bottom line over there is not necessarily about the students success and wellbeing.
My current plans have fluctuated all over the place; from LPN program to Repiratory therapy, I am currently looking into LPN program through a vocational school as that would be my best option to gaining my RN at this point. Time is an issue for me now and I am hoping that one of the few irons I have in the fire will come through. I do not want to drive 2 hrs for school, I have done that for a few jobs, in particular one in Rochester Hills, no fun even in the summer. I have faith and believe that something will pan out for me.

In no way would I advise anyone to attend Baker College for nursing, it's a rip-off. They claim that you only need to have a certain grade in all of your classes, but they only take the top 30 with 4.0's. Just tell students from the start that they should maintain an 4.0, and let them decide if they want to spent their life savings in that school. Still chances are you may not even get in!!

mstouie, it sounds like you have been just as disappointed as I have been. I feel for both of us, I know others do get in, although some people are questionable that do get in. In fact one person in particular I know of got in and then was put out of the program right before the second semester. What are you doing now? Have you found another route or something totally different? If you like PM me and we can talk.

I'm with you ladies. I use to love BC and now I utterly hate them. IF I had known then what I know now I would have not attended there. I have no idea what to do. I just want to be done already.
Please share some ideas of where else to go or what to do.
I think it is ridiculous that we spent all our time ( and lots of money) for them to say "sorry" . I think as long as you have a B- or better in any class you should be let into the program.
Some other people I have met with perfect 4.0 will not makes good nurses.

My advice carebear is to seek out other schools. I know about the waiting lists and such, but you have invested so much into school and it will not be wasted if you continue to pursue your goal. I am doing just that and feel confident I will achieve mine. The disappointment that I have experienced through Baker has been more than anything I could have ever imagined. There are other schools that will look at your grades and be happy to help you succeed, you have to do the leg work and find your way. Good luck and do not give up!
