Hi guys. I was just wondering if any of you have ever gotten out of a speeding ticket just because you're a nurse. We hear stories all the time of women nurses pulled over by male cops and let go for the simple fact they're a nurse. Have any of you ever gotten out of a ticket (be the cop male or female) because you're in your scrubs or you somehow communicate you're a nurse?

Yes I have when I was a block away from the hospital. However I have gotten out of tickets many times before for one reason or another and even driven home after being stopped with no insurance, expired drivers license and registration. SO the point is obey the law and you most likely wont be ticketed. Disobey and you are at the mercy of who ever stops you. I have met some police officers that were so polite that I would have been offended if they did not ticket me. The tickets are small potatoes compared to your insurance after these excapades.

Here in New Mexico I've been pulled over 6 times in the last year (once by Santa Fe police, once by Los Alamos, three times by BIA) and given a warning every time. Each time I was either on my way to or from work and in my scrubs. Let me emphasize that I rarely speed there are just some weird areas where the speed limit drops abruptly then goes back up.

See if your state has a nursing license plate.

I would think twice about putting RN license plates on my car. It may draw the attention of people you would rather not notice you

Yep,
I was stopped last fall. The deputy ran my plates and said please slow down. (He even told me what speed would not draw attention in that little speed zone.)

2 weeks ago I was going home after work and was doing 85 in a 65 thats fast for even me any way I was pulled over and while I was digging around in the glove box for my insurance the male cop asked what unit I worked in and I stated ICU he stated that he didn't give ICU nurses tickets I was still trying to give him my license and insurance and he just walked of and stated to have a nice day
( hell I could of been a masss murder or something)

You know really the the answer is dont use nursing as an excuse to break the law. Even hot blonds get tickets sometimes. We are actually suppose to be helping make the world better not use our title as an excuse for dangerous behavior

i'm not saying we have a "right" to break the law by speeding. almost everyone does it, including nurses. just because we sign "RN" after our names doesn't mean we're perfect. i was just wondering if anyone had been let off the hook because of being a nurse. that's all.
