Scholarships for men wanting to be nurses?

I am a 34 year old, black, male looking to take nursing around the area of Detroit, Michigan. I want to find scholarships that will pay for the full ride of an ADN and maybe even a stipend for living.

I know of one that was mentioned on here and plan on applying for it but want to find others to hedge my bet. All the nurses at work keep saying "oh yeah being a male and a minority you should be able to get the whole thing paid for and then some!" As much as I keep hearing that I find it difficult to find these programs. Can anyone help?

i'm not in detriot so i dunno what are the laws over there but i know here in nyc...you can get a grant to pay for most of it and then the rest that you have to pay out of pocket you'll get a loan/financial aid to pay for it... to qualify for financial aid you have to make underr a certain amount ...i suggest that you go to a school/community college to enquire about it, since they are the ones who sign you up for the grant ...dunno if that helped

You might want to look into grants from hospitals. I have a grant. I applied through my local community college, but it is funded by Lehigh Valley Hospital & Health Network. I owe them a year after I graduate. They pay 100% tuition + $500/semester. I'm in an ADN program.

There is a nursing shortage so scholarships are available and many states have loan forgiveness programs. You might want to look into that.
