The absolute best thing you can do is lift weights. Unfortunately most people have no idea where to start. I can't tell you how many people I see come into the gym and sit down and do 200 curls with a 10 pound dumbell. That is USELESS!

You need to work on doing gains, with a limited, but effective set of exercises. Here is the best beginner workout I have seen that will enable you to gain a good bit of strength and muscle mass, and it's only 3 days a week of work. It isn't easy to do, but the guy has simplified it to the point that anyone CAN do it, it's just a lot of exertion, but that's the point! Lifting weights will make you feel a million times better. If anyone has questions I'm glad to help out.

P90X is extreme and if it is too tough for you starting out you can start with the power 90 (P90) DVDs first. They will also get you in great shape and get you ready to really crush P90X. I am doing this now and it does work.

I cannot exercise at home. Boring. I would advise everybody to sign up for a sport they like and have a coach. Usually martial art schools offer something challenging, not boring, and with a live coach that gives you some live advice. Besides, you have to go out and exercise with other human beings, even if it is only once a week.
I could not do any exercise from DVD.

It is so ironic to me that I stopped running and exercising regularly and gained lots of weight AFTER I entered Nursing/health care.
My facility offers Welness Coaches who referred me to a web site, sparkpeople.com to help me track what I ate. Since finding the site, I use it to log my exercise on fitness maps, track my weight loss, read fitness related articles and get advice.
It is free and certainly well worth checking out.
