i work in dialysis. i did 9 months in CCU/CVSD and hated every minute. of course, my charge nurse in CCU was a giant *****. 33 years of nursing had put a dark cloud over her head.

I work in a Level III NICU in a large Children's Hospital. We have 135+ nurses in our unit and 2 guys. The parents seem to LOVE us because it's very clear that we both love what we do. Adults are just not for me, babies and kids only!

Welcome to allnurses.com! I hope you'll find it as useful and entertaining as I have. Be sure to check out the "Students" tab at the top of each page--it will take you to forums especially geared toward student concerns/advice/rants/celebrations. There's also a "Search" feature that can take you to topics of interest, and forums based on location, nursing specialty, etc. There's a wealth of advice and info, and just about every viewpoint you can imagine.

I've done so many on your list but right now I'm in homecare and the only male nurse (as usual) working for this particular office.

On my floor there are only 3 male nurses, in SICU, there are more male nurses then female nurses. Go figure..

Men in nursing have always gravitated to critical care so it's not unusual to see more men in SICU than women. It's rare to see men working in med-surg and they usually don't stay very long when they do.

If it was up to me, I wouldn't be on the Med/Surg floor, but AZ really restricts the LPN on thier SOP.
