JAN 07 BSN Grad

Currently 34 bed Critical Care Step Down Unit.

Future plans may involve one or more of the following...

1) Critical Care - More focused on pts and families, not tasks.
2) Hospice - We make a big deal about the grandiose event of life, why not support those on their final moments as well, in addition to their families
3) Home Health - Able to address the needs of pts one at a time without call lights... Beautiful thought isn't it...
4) Education - Let's face it, fun - and I can't do bedside till I'm 65
5) MBA/MHA - Not sure why, but healthcare will get shaken up in the next 5-20 years that management may be very interesting...

Wow...I created this thread some time ago...a time when I was on board as staff. A lot has happened since then, much that lead to my absence from the board. I have since relocated to another city and will begin a new position...in Neuro nursing....so, my new field of interest will lie in Medical Nursing for now. I also hope to grace the board more and more as time permits.

It is refreshing to see so many male nurses responding. Congratulations to you all. I had dificulty with the whole sexual stereotyping concept when I first started nursing school but have learned that it really doesnt matter. It still ****** me off when I see all nurses referred to as "her" & "She" though. We dont wear starched caps, or stand up when a Dr. enters the room anymore. Times have changed and I think most folks perceptions of what it means to be a nurse should as well.
