Finally getting started

by jortar

So I've wanted to be a nurse pretty much my entire life, I have family in the nursing field and its always just been what I wanted to do. I'm going on 20 and have pretty much got my life where I want it to be and am now just starting to make the first step into the nursing field. I've enrolled in both a Phlebotomy and a CNA course this summer, and I think that's a good first step, but I'm really not sure what to do next, or really even what to expect. Can someone maybe give me a good idea of what the next step in the process is, or should be anyways? Anything at all will help

Default Re: Finally getting started
I'd say the next step in the process would be looking at schools and seeing what the required classes are needed to be accepted into an LPN or an RN Program. Generally, the main pre-requisites are: 1 semester of Anatomy with lab, 1 semester of Physiology with lab, and 1 semester of Microbiology with lab. These all have their own pre-requisites as well.

If you haven't done so already, enroll in a community college and start taking your general education classes. Classes would include English, Math, Sciences, Humanities.

Some other classes that would help are medical math, ECG, and pathophysiology.
