The "Flirt"

Nurses Men

The 'Flirt" is on the loose. How many women flirt with you? Not just your customary flirting, but serious double entendre, risque stuff? No I am not trying to incite some sort of ego competition here. I come from a background of carpenter work and factory work, so the dominant female workforce is new to me...well new as in 2 & 1/2 yrs in the biz. Age range of these flirtatious beings ranges from 20-50ish...I am not extremely handsome nor am I gruesome. Do the ladies just constantly flirt and tell you you're hot as a common way of conversing throughout the day? Obviously I like it because I am a man, and love the smell of perfume and vitamins :-), but I already have trouble driving my car down the street in danger of hitting something when there are females in my field of vision...

Just yackin' here fellas, do you find that the women you work with are just that way or what??

Very common. I always have found it fun but given That I'm married its never anything more than fun flirting.

I've found a lot of nurses (F) just flirt as a matter of habit. It's usually OK as long as everyone keeps it on a light note. If you make a fun part of work, rather than avoiding or giving too much flirt back, they won't get the idea that you are interested. I think women think they are immune from being accused of sexual harassment but if it makes you uncomfortable, that's what it is. When this particular RT calls me "stud" (often) I redirect and ask her about her husband. In that regard I find the married ones are the worst. They feel safe to put it out there and are looking for attention and affirmation that they might not be getting at home. Best of luck bro...

It's amusing. Helps break the tension of work.

Most nurses are professional. The female nurses you are working with sound very unprofessional. What type of clinical setting do you work in lol may I ask.

I think one would be hard pressed to find one of us who has not had the women flirting in the work situation. As much as most, if not all hospitals and employers would discourage this type of thing, it still happens all the time. I guess it all depends on how one handles the situation. I just brush it off and have a good laugh. It makes me feel great that the women find me attractive despite the fact that I'm gay LOL

It sounds kind of non-intuitive, but as long as it's professional and not personal, it can be a great tension-reliever. Of course, that implies boundaries. I can remember more than one Nurse in my career that were 'way too serious . Those are usually Very easy to identify and no one is fooled, unless you want to play, but I would warn you to STAY AWAY from those! Mostly I've found that it is a group of us friends who do it mostly among ourselves.

hope your talking about flirting still.....

it's 2010, not 1950, women do just about everything men do these days, that includes some being hardcore flirts or whatever you want to call it.

I experiencing these too. It's fun just don't get it in your head. Leave it at the workplace and not bring it somewhere else. ?

I agree with pretty much everything you guys are saying. Flip the situation around and put a semi-attractive to gorgeous woman in a field dominated by men, the same thing is going to happen to a man in this situation. My only advice is to keep it professional, don't flirt in front of the patients or hospital administrators, just among the nurses.
