(((Thank you))) Again, kind words are truly a gift! I love onc and the pts make it so rewarding. We lost one of our oncologists who brought in so many pts, and our population changed to a gen med- pneumonia, gastritis, stroke, drug OD, etc. It was a tough group to care for- our onc pts are usually so so grateful for all we do- darn it, they just want to get better and get back to their family and job. And when they do, it's so heartwarming. And when they don't, we just walk with them and support them in their choices. I find this one of the most empowering specialties. The nurses do so much, but then again, that's true in many areas.
I'm glad you work in a supportive, peaceful arena. All we know is what we hear in the news- and of course people working together and getting along doesn't get into the news...
It's a small group (Hamas) who make people think they represent all Muslims- and it's not the case. I don't understand brutality, violence, torture- ever. One of the differences between men and women maybe? (Except our famous Vice Pres candidate Sarah Palin. Why on earth a woman needs to hunt in this day simply mystifies me and I have no respect for her.)
Imagining your weather is better then ours. We will be down to zero tonight with wind chills 30 miles per hour. Or do you do km?

i have tot ell you, being an oncology nurse is one of the toughest jobs on the face of the planet- I have such respect for the work you do- I totally agree with your signature- I'll bet you're qualified to do just about anything!!
I am sorry that the post you so elegantly wrote has some sidetracking in the religous arena. the important message is how you were challenged and rose to the challenge and shared what you learned from ur experience. Hopefully this will inspire others. Even though I work in Jerusalem. some of my pts are Moslem, Christian and Druse. We even have a Priest (not sure of what specifically - as he now has Alzheimers) I love the fact that we take the time to help them in their religious needs and turn our conference room over to groups or families that need it to express themselves. Respecting our pts goes a long way to improving their self esteem and general mood. More than any pill or injection!!
You really inspired lots of people!!!
