    Havin' A Party!
Our SNF is approximately 160 beds. My principal unit has 36 dementia residents.

Oversee all operations on my floor.

Love my job! It's less than 15 minutes from home. Great DON and NHA.

    Constantly learning. Lots of independence.

No one's asked about my education since my first nursing job 20++years ago. I have a Bachelor's degree...it's just not in nursing. And, for the record, I don't like mud.

What good is a cease fire that is one sided- the Hamas are still firing a volley of rockets our way- these do terrible damage, hurt civilians, disrupt daily lives- businesses, schools, any ability to have a normal life!!!! I am so against this cease fire- It will serve no purpose- the only one we can turn to for protection is G-d himself- and we see his miracles every day- when the rockets miss their mark and fall in an empty building or field. The Hamas are baffled how it is that they aim well and the rockets arent doing the damage to human life as they anticipated. A synagogue was 'bombed' when just minutes before it was inhabited, they failed to find a tenth man for prayer with a Minyan (a chorus of 10)and left to join another synagogue and Thank G-d missed the bomb!!!
There will be lots of work to rebuild the damages done and the children are all missing school because of this, but G-d is watching over us.
Cease fire or no ceasefire, the Hamas havent changed and haven't learned their lesson despite the war. Pity we can't all learn to live together in peace!!!
    Thank you for your concern.

Here in LTC, our pts are so grateful for every kind word, gesture, and gentle procedure, maybe thats why I left acute care, I go to the funerals of almost every pt that passes on. We feel like family- truly. It is a warm environment. Some of our pts have no other family, (holocaust survivors, dysfunctional families, the result of medical problems etc.) so nursing care includes giving a sense of self worth etc.
I used to think that there is nothing worse than being a lawyer, but I have discovered that the media is worse than lawyers, Once our children's school was having some internal dispute between the principal and the dean. I got this phone call from a reporter asking about it, I begged him not to put our school in the papers- it was nothing newsworthy and it would only harm the children, besides it will be resolved internally and quickly. The next morning I am quoted as saying that I think the Dean is doing a lousy job. I called the reporter angrily ( don't ask how I had to make 100 calls to get his number) and he said "Let me check my notes... well yes its true that you didn;t say it but someone else said it and asked not to be quoted, since you didn;t ask not to be quoted, I assumed you wouldn't mind..." I got a retraction 2 weeks later- a small blurb on page prob noone looks at!!!
Since then I am wary of anything I read.
Yes our weather is warmer- come visit!!! We still need rain though-
    All the best, AC

(((Thank you))) Again, kind words are truly a gift! I love onc and the pts make it so rewarding. We lost one of our oncologists who brought in so many pts, and our population changed to a gen med- pneumonia, gastritis, stroke, drug OD, etc. It was a tough group to care for- our onc pts are usually so so grateful for all we do- darn it, they just want to get better and get back to their family and job. And when they do, it's so heartwarming. And when they don't, we just walk with them and support them in their choices. I find this one of the most empowering specialties. The nurses do so much, but then again, that's true in many areas.
I'm glad you work in a supportive, peaceful arena. All we know is what we hear in the news- and of course people working together and getting along doesn't get into the news...
It's a small group (Hamas) who make people think they represent all Muslims- and it's not the case. I don't understand brutality, violence, torture- ever. One of the differences between men and women maybe? (Except our famous Vice Pres candidate Sarah Palin. Why on earth a woman needs to hunt in this day simply mystifies me and I have no respect for her.)
Imagining your weather is better then ours. We will be down to zero tonight with wind chills 30 miles per hour. Or do you do km?

thank you. I know it sounds like we are all against each other- arabs and jews, but beleive me- its not like that here. I work with arabs hand in hand and we all get along and just want to raise our families in peace. In this case it is the Hamas organization that just want to - I dont know- ruin peace for everyone. Even the arabs have told me how much better things are since 1948 and the jews developed the country- hospitals, schools, infrastructure, economic stability and even prosperity etc. Even religiously it is better for them now- we provide protection for them on their holidays etc. I have arab patients who tell me all the time how they are persecuted by other arabs for political reasons. The Hamas are not above torturing their own!!! Again- a swift and decisive resolution would help everyone.
