we have alot of similarities>>>> i am a male also with two girls(3yrs and8mts) and my wife does support me IF this is what i want to do. i am trying to get ALL the facts straight so that i dont have any regrets with either way i decide. i work in an icu now also and have this desire to do what i can to help the people that give us the freedom we have. people that put there lives on the line day in and day out for us.
i think that i would love the army reserve nurse corps but need to make sure that it is a good fit for me and my family. you were a god-send and very helpful. i appricate your time and thoughts.

I thought I was probably a bit harsh. I apologize. I have two children myself (im a guy). My wife supports my decision to go active duty Direct Commission. I am board selected and waiting on the oath.
I have to say that overall the military is "hurry up and wait" it takes forever to do anything paperwork wise or otherwise.
Recruiters are people. Some are good and some are bad. Find one that tells you stuff that may not work in their interest.
I will be glad to let you know how things are as I progress through the bureaucracy of joining the ANC.
I work now in ICU in civilian world. I wanted to join the army to "see the world" etc. Benefits are nice at retirement. And have a different patient population if you know what I mean.
I am well aware that I am going to be working crazy hours no overtime and be deployed for a long time. It weighs heavy on my heart at what that will be like. I have a infant and a school age kid.
