hi Gericare001 - I graduated in 2004 and was interested in working with the elderly. During my senior year in nursing school I did my practicum in a rehabilitation hospital (not a nursing home...they are two different things) and went back to work there as a new RN. I enjoyed working with the more elderly folks and thought about obtaining the GNP. Only with a GNP you are legally licensed to work only with folks who are 55 and up . With an FNP you can work with infants to elderly people. With an ANP I am licensed to work with 15 and up in some places and I believe 13 and up in some places. Yes, it is harder to find a job working with only 55 and up. FNPs have the easiest time finding a job. I work in a rehabiliation hospital.
