- Sorry it took me so long to respond. I'm trying to figure out how this message things works. I'm going to go to UAMS (in Little Rock, AR), starting this summer. I've always wanted to be a nurse, but when I was in college the first time my parents really wanted me to major in accounting and so I did, then got my CPA. While I was working as a controller for a company they offered to pay for me to get an MBA and I couldn't turn that down. I really don't know if I am going to try to go into nursing administration or not. I know I would have an advantage because of the degrees, but I've heard it is really stressful and because of overtime sometime you make more money working as a nurse on the floor.
Good luck with your return to the surgical floor. I'll be interested to see if your management degrees help you.
Take care. - I admire your knowledge of American Hx and how it influences today's economy. I usually go to my husband (PhD in US hsitory
to get a layman's understanding of this mess. - Feb 27, 2009 10:59 AM - permalinkIt'sMe, RN, BBA, MBAHello! Thanks for writing to me. So where do you start school? Why did you choose to come to nursing? What do you hope to accomplish long term?
I was a RN first and then got my BBA and MBA because at the time the BSN was worthless. Of course now, if you want to do anything at all in nursing leadership you must have the BSN and preferably the MSN.
I am coming back to clinical nursing afer a 13 year hiatus. I am starting on a surgical floor in April. I am going to enjoy the time and the climb up the ladder again.
Stay in touch. Good luck! - Hi I just saw your name and wanted to say Hello. I'm starting nursing school this summer (I'm 48). I also have a BBA a CPA (not current) and MBA. I sometimes think I'm trying to see how many initials I can get after my name. Good luck to you!
