Wow! The next day? That's great! What department are you going to be working in? I applied to the PICU but I am really willing to work anywhere in peds!
Hi,
Good luck with your applications! I'm sure your resume/cover letter were great, as far as hearing back from them it probably differs from department to department, I got a call back the next day and was completely taken off guard and surprised but I got call backs from other units saying they weren't even looking yet (this was in December) so it really depends on who is doing the call back (the nurse manager or HR) and how many apps they got and if they are even looking yet.
Good Luck!
slf974,
Hi, I read your post on the Childrens board and decided to message you back here since it's not as related to that post.
I do graduate in May, I will take the NCLEX probably near the end of June/beginning of July and I start working the last week of August. I know that May graduates have begun applications and that Feb/march are the top months to apply for us, I am not as sure about August grads. As far as my resume goes I have health care experience but not with children so I included that, I also included my previous work both paying and volunteer work because like you I also have a lot of experience with children and that is just as important to include. I included my last three jobs with brief explanations of what I did there, volunteer work, awards and activities as well as my clinical experience, especially my pediatric and internship experience. Of course I also included my school and gpa. My cover letter was where I expressed my interest in children and why I would be a good fit for that hospital.
I hope that helps a little bit, if you have any other specific questions feel free to ask, I had a few people look over and edit my resume/cover letter too so its definitely a good idea to find someone who knows you and can help do that to. Good Luck!
